     flotation performance of coal and phosphate samples in the presence of a rhamnolipid biosurfactant obtained from a pseudomonas aeruginosa strain was studied. ftir and es-ms analysis indicated that the product contained two types of commonly found rhamnolipids: r1c10c10 (rl-1) and r2c10c10 (rl-2). results from phosphate flotation showed that phosphate content in concentrate decreased as rhamnolipid concentration was increased. however, final recovery of phosphate at appropriate dosage of reagent remained constant. results from coal flotation tests indicated that the final yield decreased by rhamnolipid concentration in mixed with pine oil. but, yield as well as ash content increased by increasing rhamnolipid dosage in the absence of pine oil. kinetic constants were found to be positively influenced by rhamnolipid addition. rhamnolipid addition improved kinetics of flotation of phosphate ores.
