mineralogical characterization indicated that the studied sulfide-oxide ore sample contains galena, sphalerite, cerussite and smithsonite as main lead and zinc valuable minerals. quartz is the main gangue mineral in the ore accompanied by some calcite and kaolinite. in the flotation tests, the optimum amount of potassium amyl xanthate (pax) is obtained 220, 220 and 400 g/t for galena, sphalerite and cerussite flotation, respectively. the optimum amount of copper sulphate as sphalerite surface activator and sodium sulfide as cerussite sulfidizing agent is also determined 250 and 2500 g/t, respectively. the flotation results showed that the usage of zinc sulphate as sphalerite depressant is not necessary. by the proposed flowsheet at optimum conditions, a galena concentrate containing 48% pb, a sphalerite concentrate with 58.5% zn and a cerussite concentrate with 57% pb are obtained. the final tailing containing about 32% zn with 64% recovery is a smithsonite concentrate which is suitable for zinc hydrometallurgical process and also comparable with present concentrate which is produced using oxidized ore in the plant.
