nurses' attitudes towards the ethical challenge of abortion in islamic countries: a review article

objective: one of the most sensitive issues that may be in conflict with the ethics of the nurses and the patients and affect the efficiency and attitude of nurses is the issue of abortion. the aim of this review study was to examine the attitudes of nurses in islamic countries towards abortion.

materials and methods: this review study reviewed articles published between the years (2000-2021). scientific resources were searched in both persian and english using the keywords (nursing ethics, ethical challenge and abortion) were searched in the databases of the islamic world science citation database, google scholar, medline, pubmed, isi and some internal sources such as scientific databases.

results: the results of studies showed that nurses consider strict rules about abortion as the main causes of illegal abortions. cultural, political, social and economic developments in different islamic countries have also led to an increase in the number of abortions in islamic countries.

conclusion: nurses, as those whose daily experience may include exposure to abortion and its unpleasant consequences, intentionally mention legal, social, economic and cultural changes in islamic countries as the main causes of abortion. also, the proposed solutions revolve mainly around legal and social reforms so that women, instead of referring to unqualified people, legally perform abortions, with less risks and complications for the mother.
