    today's power systems, due to the increased use of renewable energy for electric power generation, require increased control and optimization flexibility to ensure the balance between load and production stabilization after severe disturbances and finally, network frequency control. considering that the amount of renewable energy production varies, and the use distributed generation will reduce the inertia of the system, the issue of optimal network frequency control has become more important than ever. this change to the power system makes older controllers unable to function properly in a wide range of operating conditions. in response to this challenge, this paper while presenting a neural-fuzzy pid controller, presents a new online smart method with the help of the virtual power plant concept and combining fuzzy logic and genetic optimization techniques to optimize the pid controller. this method of controlling the design tested on an ac network and the performance of the presented intelligent control has been compared with ziegler-nichols pid control, fuzzy pid control and neural-fuzzy pid control.
